Welcome to the Humane Society of Fremont County, Inc.!
Our fine shelter was founded in 1951 by the late Ralph J. Wann. His generous support during his lifetime and through a trust to which he and Grace E. Green contributed has made it possible for the Humane Society to continue operating and expand to what it is today. Each year the Humane Society accepts thousands of dogs, cats, puppies, kittens, gerbils, hamsters, guinea pigs, birds, etc., etc. Skilled professional care is given to each animal, including preliminary vaccinations and proper feeding before efforts are made to place them in new homes. Won't YOU be one of their new homes?

Please type www.stretchandscratch.com into your browser and donate some Stretch & Scratches!!!
We can put them in each of the kitty cages during their stay here at the Humane Society of Fremont County. They encourage natural kitty behavior, they provide enrichment for kitties who have to stay in cages, and they also help to reduce the kitty's stress while they are here! Please help our kitties and donate some scratchers today!

Visit the shelter and meet our shelter pets!
Clawdia, top left, has been with us since 1999. She came with a litter of kittens and after raising them, was a foster mother for orphaned kittens that entire summer. Afterward, she decided to stay with us forever. During her spay surgery that Fall, it was discovered that she had mammary cancer. She had two breasts removed and had been in remission until December 2004, when another lump developed. It too was removed and she's once again a happy and healthy girl at the shelter. She has many, many fans who visit her, why won't you be one too?
Candie, center, our shelter dog has been with us since Spring 2005. She is sweet and gentle with the animals that arrive at the shelter, and to nice people too! She was featured in the Canon City Music & Blossom Festival Parade in 2005 as our Princess. We think she was the prettiest girl there! Our sweet Candie died October 2, 2011 after a brief illness. She will forever be in our hearts.
Tessa, top right, has been with us since 2000. She is very sporty and has entertained thousands of visitors throughout the years with her athletic prowess. Visit her and play soccer, volleyball, baseball or tiddelywinks with this special girl! It's something you'll never forget!
We lost our dear Tessa in August 2012. She had suffered from colitis for many years and had recently lost all of her teeth and had become very, very forgetful. She will always be remembered as a loving and caring kitty cat who cheered up clients for twelve unforgettable years.
